This will be accomplished through:

-
Connecting immigrants, providers, and the greater community to trainings, educational opportunities, and cultural events
-
Supporting existing organizational policies ensuring inclusion
-
Supporting expansion of and greater coordination between service providers
-
Supporting workforce development opportunities including English language learning, skills and credentialing assessments, business mentoring, connector programming, and strategic neighborhood business districting
-
Supporting language access and service equity in education, government, health, and social services
-
Supporting comprehensive cultural orientation and integration opportunities for immigrants
Scripture tells many stories of immigrants and outsiders and how we are to respond, even Jesus was a political refugee according to the Gospel of Matthew. Welcoming Fort Wayne is a Biblical response to do what our scriptures call us to do, “Love him as yourself” Lev. 19:33-34.
Perhaps most compelling, “I was a stranger and you welcomed me” Matt. 25. We know how that ends, “Just as you did to the least of these, you did to me”.
Thus, Welcoming Fort Wayne desires a community where everyone, because of background, culture, or heritage, is valued and included in all aspects of daily living.
